My friend Lane has also published a list of books he would recommend for the people in the pew to read and I would whole heartedly agree with his choices. I have read all of them (save a’Brakel. I haven’t got my hands on his set yet) and they are a needed addition to a layman’s library. I would also like to highlight, as he did, Ferguson’s book The Christian Life. I do not know a contemporary work on the ordo salutis and it’s practical implications to the Christian life that can beat it for depth and accessibility.
Also, though men like Calvin and Baxter are less accessible, I don’t think we should shrink fom recommending them to our people as they help give them insight into the Reformed faith, and are matchless in their content.
